Judith Anne (Judy) Stibbard (nee Dibnah)
August 18, 1952 – August 9, 2016

Sadly, Judy has passed away. She was born and raised in Victoria, graduating from Mount View Secondary in 1970. She is survived by her husband and soul-mate, Greg; her three step-children: Jim Stibbard (Lynn), Jeff Stibbard (Brenda) and Lianne Wessner (Emil); their six grandchildren: Amanda (Matt), Matthew, Clint, Cody, Kai and Asa; Greg’s siblings: John (Nancy Stibbard) and Judy Gerrett. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Doreen (Rob) Kelley, Diane (Bill) Gregory, Larry (Rae) Dibnah, Cheryl (Ian) Stewart, Sandy Kilduff and many nieces and nephews.

In 1973, Judy and her good friend Susan moved to the mainland, the start of many new adventures. She met Greg while working at the District of North Vancouver Fire Department. They started dating in 1982 and married in 1990. Their marriage and life together was based on a deep and profound love and respect for each other. Judy moved on in her career and after a bit more university under her belt, she started her own consulting business in Adult Education. She would design and teach programs for her many clients in the lower mainland and throughout the Province.

Judy and Greg retired in 1997 and moved to the Comox Valley the following year. Judy joined the Newcomers’ Club and that was the start of a life that can only be described as magical. There they made wonderful and lasting friendships and were part of a group that loved to golf, hike, socialize, travel and so on. It was also the time that Judy and Greg travelled the world. Europe being one of their favorite destinations. They’ve also travelled to New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Mexico and extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. They loved nothing more than throwing their golf clubs into the car and heading out on a trip to visit the kids and grandkids, always exploring and enjoying new experiences along the way.

In 2012, Judy and Greg moved to Victoria to be closer to family and medical facilities. They found their perfect spot to live in their condo overlooking the ocean at “Sidney by the Sea”, a place they absolutely loved. Once again, they began to forge great friendships in their new community, all the while maintaining the friendships from the Comox Valley.

From “The Last Farewell by Roger Whittaker”: “For you are beautiful and I have loved you dearly, more dearly than the spoken word can tell”.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
will be held at a later time.
